What is your role in The Oasis Townsville?
I am the program manager for the Veterans Business Alliance (VBA). I engage with businesses that are looking to assist veterans into the Townsville job market.
Tell us about yourself
I served within the Australian Regular Army for 17 years as an officer within the Royal Regiment of the Australian Artillery. Since transitioning I have been working in the Defence Industry space as a civilian consultant.
Why have you joined the team at The Oasis Townsville?
Having separated from Army in 2019, I was very lucky to have good friends and family that assisted me with the transition. I feel for those veterans that are not well supported as they transition. I joined The Oasis Townsville to help build a system that will assist veterans as they embark on what will be, for many, the hardest time in their lives.
What are you most proud of in your life?
I am a very proud father. Watching my children grow more and more capable everyday makes me very proud. A very distant second would be commanding Australian soldiers on active service.
What’s the best fun you’ve had with family and/or friends?
After graduating from the Australian Defence Force Academy, five of my close friends and I hired a 40 foot yacht on the Gippsland Lakes in Victoria. We spent the week sailing, kitesurfing and laughing. The fun times came crashing down a few weeks later when we marched into the Royal Military College.
