On 19th October 2023, Defence Health and The Oasis Townsville, will announce a new three-year partnership to enhance Veteran activities at The Oasis Townsville’s Hut 5.

The Chair of The Oasis Townsville LTGEN John Caligari, AO, DSC (Ret'd) said he was most impressed by Defence Health's strategy and recognised that it aligns with The Oasis Townsville's strategy of care for the entire Veteran Community.

“Our Connections Program sees over 1500 connections participants each month at Homebase and we are proud to have Defence Health a part of this and endorse their services.” Mr Caligari said.

“Sponsorship from Defence Health will further support the activities of The Oasis Townsville to help veterans and their families remain connected and supported in a safe and respected environment.

“The Oasis Townsville provides a broad range of activities for Veterans and their families to get involved in, and every day there are activities running in our Huts. Everything from resume and grant writing workshops, finance and budgeting workshops, podcasting, table-top gaming and scale modeling. There is something for everyone.”

Defence Health provides health insurance to ADF families and the Defence community, with a strong focus on the wellbeing of the veteran community.

Defence Health Acting CEO, Gerard Fogarty, said “for the last 70 years, Defence Health has focused on the health and wellbeing of the Defence community. I’m delighted to provide this meaningful support to The Oasis Townsville for the benefit of Veterans in the region.”
