Providers ceasing to offer DVA service

Urgency:

High

Veteran Community Needs Affected:

Good Mental Health, Good Physical Health, Adequate Transportation

Issue Details

There have been a few providers of service that have withdrawn from serving DVA clients in recent times. So the pool is shrinking. The reasons given are that payment by DVA is slow and affects cashflow. They are seeking to engage more with NDIS (Social Services) and My Aged Care (Health and Aged Care) as a preference.

Likely Cause of the Issue

Economic slow down seems to have meant providers are less willing to accept DVA payment timelines.

Possible Solution

Identify to DVA as an issue for investigation in places where there is a high veteran density in population, starting with Townsville.

Who is likely to be responsible to fix this?

DVA
