Operation NAVIGATOR is now the centre of operations and will become BAU in time

Our Career Connections Showcase last month was the best yet. The numbers just keep growing as word of mouth gets out. We are planning on an even more significant event on Wednesday 24 July. We’ve got some fantastic stories from these showcases and the results after.

More of the very popular Alliance Rehabilitation Cooling Classes will come after last month's fully booked class. Seeing the broad range of veterans and partners keen to learn the secrets of healthy cooking is amazing. The kitchen facility at Homebase is perfect for the class. Keep an eye on What’s ON on the website as limited places go fast.

We had a slight hiccup on the Leisure Expo so had to postpone, but its coming. Some unexpected, easily overcome difficulties will see this get back on its feet soon.
Operation NAVIGATOR Solid Foundations Workshop has commenced with a fantastic story. At the very first Solid Foundations Session, two soldiers introduced themselves to each other for the first time, then realised they live next to each other in Lavarack Barracks and share a washing machine! And more impressive is they come from the same town. That’s not the main reason for NAVIGATOR, but it is certainly an intended side-effect.

It was good to see Defence consulting serving and ex-serving veterans and families on their recent tour to Townsville for the Defence and Veteran Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy Roadshow. We had the team visit us and seek input. A presentation was put on for ex-serving veterans and partners in the evening to give them a feel for the joint new strategy developed by Defence and DVA.

Our NAV Sessions are ramping up - do you want an easy way to learn something you should know, and for partners too? The financials presentation is particularly sought after, especially the topics of DVA and CSC information, general budgeting, and similar topics. These NAV Sessions will ramp up this year as Solid Foundations Workshops progress.

The Exposure Draft is out for the proposed legislation, and we have begun actively collecting your thoughts. We’ve had a few meetings with interested advocates and ESOs and intend more before the suspense of 28 April.

Coming up in the weeks ahead is the first Twilight Market for the year, a Townsville Hike and Explore Session, and a free Pilates offer by a Townsville business. Did you miss the Belly Dancing 5-week course that started in February? Our very successful series of markets kicks off with the Twilight Markets on 12 April.
