Join a group of people with a collection of skills in social media and photography and reporting. Sometimes it's just a case of having someone who can take photos and video and put them in a shared folder for the rest of us to do our thing whether posting on Instagram or the website or producing a media release.

We have a Facebook page and group, Instagram, Youtube, Twitter, and a website that all need pictures, videos and content.

Dirty Boots Support Team

This team provides backup to the cafe staff to make it a great experience for all. There are lots of little tasks needing doing to look after customers that do not need a barista or chef. Even just answering questions about opening hours, or rearranging chairs around tables to give customers a pleasant experience. Dirty Boots Cafe is part of The Oasis Townsville and is run by veterans. Profits from the Cafe help keep The Oasis Townsville operating.

friendly, open, engaging

Grant Writing Team

We have a team of people who meet every couple of months but largely work from home examining the opportunities for grants and collaboratively applying for them in support of projects at The Oasis Townsville. If you are a professional who is time-poor but when the kids are in bed and the TV has nothing to offer could you spare a bit of time to work with like-minded individuals to craft some cunning grant applications?

We use MS Teams and OneDrive to share ideas and previously used successful text to apply for grants. We have an application that helps us know what's coming and it normally requires a discussion on who is taking the lead on which grant. Then we all chip in online. Great opportunity to help if you have
writing skills, computer collaboration is a given, like working in a small professional team

Home Base is a 5000m2 block with significant gardens. We have a gardening contractor to do routine maintenance like pruning and mowing. But we need a more regular group attending to blowing leaves, sweeping paths, identifying problems particularly with sprinklers etc.

Local Security Team

We have many cameras and alarm systems on the building which are connected to a security company. That company does patrols also. But we really need a team who live nearby and can routinely observe the environs of Home Base.

Live local (preferably within a street), often outside or moving through the area, keen to record/report anything that might be out of the norm.

Meet and Greet Team

This Team is made up of volunteers who ensure there is someone around who will ensure no one arrives and is left looking lost. The Team is able to direct enquiries to the right area to be dealt with. It is important for members of the Meet and Greet Team to know who does what within The Oasis Townsville and ensure all questions are answered.

Wellbeing Program Team
2020-02-18 11.49.58.jpg

This Team resides in the Wellbeing Hut and supports the needs of members of the veteran community by helping them find what they are looking for in the way of services in Townsville. We call them Wellbeing Navigators. In some cases all that is required is to listen and support a veteran or family member and perhaps find a service that suits from our comprehensive Service Directory; in other cases, the more challenging individuals and families will require support from a skilled Wellbeing Navigator who is more closely qualified as a social worker. We can manage any and all of these people along this continuum and will provide whatever training and skilling is necessary to grow the capability of our Wellbeing Navigators.

Rest assured we will only ever assign a case for which our Navigator and Wellbeing Program Manager have complete confidence it is within the skills and capabilities of the potentially assigned Wellbeing Navigator.

This Team also contains our Compensation Advocate capability. These people have begun a competency based training regime to qualify as compensation advocates.

If you are interested in joining the Wellbeing Program Team, please use the specific application form button above.
