What is your role in The Oasis Townsville?

I am one of the Directors and Company Secretary for The Oasis Townsville.  I tend to get involve in most things, but my main focus is making sure the company has good corporate governance in place to make sure we are achieving our mission, meeting expectations and moving forward.

Tell us about yourself

I had a 29 year career in Defence in the ARA, ARes, and the APS. I spent 20 years in the Australian Army Psychology Corps as a Psychological Examiner and 9 years as a GSO officer in the Medical Corps. As a result of being medically retired I have had time to pursue volunteering which I must say is one of the most fulfilling roles I have done. I also sit on two other Boards - the NQ Defence Holidays and the Capability Framework Management Group for ATDP .

Why have you joined the team at The Oasis Townsville?

I believe in what The Oasis Townsville is trying to achieve and how it is going about it.  I have a wealth of experience from my Defence service and I didn’t want to waste that experience so I knew this was a way to give to the veteran community in Townsville.

What are you most proud of in your life?

My family and raising an amazing young man and I am very proud to say that I have served.

What’s the best fun you’ve had with family and/or friends?

We have travelled all over the world with our son and I have enjoyed every moment of travelling with the family.  It is fun to see the look on his face  when we turned up at Disneyland or see the Statue of Liberty in person.
