A call for support from the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide

The Interim Report for the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide included five recommendations relating to individuals accessing information held by the Departments of Defence (Defence) and Veterans’ Affairs (DVA). To support the implementation of these recommendations, Defence and DVA are engaging with current serving members, veterans, families and advocates on what the future experience of accessing information should look like.

Defence has appointed an independent organisation, The Customer Experience Company (CEC), to conduct co-design workshops with stakeholders. These workshops will be conducted online.

Who are we looking for?

CEC are looking for a diverse group of people for these co-design sessions, in particular:

  • Ex-serving members

  • Families of ex-serving members

  • Representatives, including anyone who has represented or advocated for members or ex-serving members in a formal or informal capacity. This could include Compensation and/or Welfare Advocates, any representative bodies or third-party groups.

CEC are seeking to speak with those who have had lived experience with, or knowledge of, the process of accessing personal information from Defence or DVA.

What to expect?
CEC Facilitators will show you a range of design concepts that relate to Accessing Information held by Defence or DVA.
This will be part of a group activity, and you will be asked to provide your feedback and point of view on the designs based on your own experience.

When and where are the co-design sessions?

Online workshops will be held using Microsoft Teams.

Current Serving Members: Monday, November 7th 2-4pm
Ex-Serving Members: Tuesday, November 8th 10-12pm
Recently Transitioned/Ex-Serving/Family members: Tuesday, November 8th 2-4pm
Family members: Wednesday, November 9th 2-4pm
Representatives: Thursday November 10th 2-4pm

What do I need to do?
To express your interest in participating in a session, please submit your details here as soon as possible, no later than Friday 4 November 2022. Please note that places are limited and as CEC are organising these workshops, it will be they contacting participants, not Defence or DVA.  Deputy Commissioners will also be engaging with their respective State and Territory ESO networks to invite participation.
