Saturday, 12 August 2023

The Oasis Townsville is inviting the Townsville community to attend their Open Day, in celebration of their second anniversary.

The Open Day is a free action packed family fun day, with plenty of activities for the community to enjoy, including the performances from the outstanding 1RAR Band.

The General Manager of The Oasis Townsville Angie Barsby said The Open Day fills us with immense excitement, as it represents two years of unwavering commitment, collaborative teamwork, and a profound devotion to our mission. Witnessing the remarkable progress, we have made and the transformative impact we have had on the Veteran Community is truly inspiring.

Mrs. Barsby expressed great satisfaction in being able to offer services and organise an Open Day to support our Veteran community, considering Townsville's status as Australia's largest Garrison City, where the Defence Community constitutes approximately 20% of our overall population."

In June 2021, The Oasis Townsville opened its doors to the Veteran Community and provides three core programs; Planning and Linkages Program, Employment and Education Program and Connections Program, all with the intention to transition connect and integrate Veterans and their families into Townsville’s community.

Mrs Barsby said this year’s Open Day will be a buzz with a multitude of captivating activities, including archery, face painting and a racing car simulator game designed so families can come together and enjoy a day of connecting.

“We invite you to join us and show your support on this remarkable day, where you’ll have the opportunity to witness the exceptional facilities of The Oasis Townsville firsthand and have the pleasure of meeting our extraordinary team, said Mrs Barsby.

The Townsville Community is welcome to attend The Oasis Townsville’s Open Day on Saturday 12 August at 10am to 1pm, at 1 Staging Camp Avenue, Oonoonba.
