Veteran Families Craft Their Way to Twilight Markets

Friday 31 March 2023

The Oasis Townsville is turning on the lights for the community this Friday evening for their first ever Twilight Craft Markets starting at 5pm.

The Twilight Craft Markets brings Veteran families and community members together to showcase their favourite crafted items. There will be food trucks, stalls and entertainment for families to enjoy.

The General Manager of The Oasis Townsville, Angie Barsby said The Oasis is beautiful at night and is the perfect setting for a Twilight Market.

“We believe in supporting Veterans and their families with their small businesses, and this is an ideal way to present their craft and connect socially.

“We are inviting the wider Townsville community to attend, not just Veteran families. A part of transitioning out of Defence into civilian life is ensuring that a connection is made with the broader community, Mrs Barsby said.

Craft Markets are held every three months within the year, with this being the first night market.

Veteran partner and Owner of NQ Fusion Kelly Sharp said it’s amazing that The Oasis is giving Veteran families an opportunity like this. Often our service man move around, and as a wife or partner we often start some sort of hobby to keep us busy whilst they are away. This gives us an opportunity to sell the things we love to make.

“I’ve attended The Oasis Craft Markets before and met some lovely families. It’s wonderful to see familiar faces and see how well other people are doing.

“Last year I took a step back from full-time to part-time work so I can work on NQ Fusion as a business. The ultimate goal is to make NQ Fusion a success so I can make this a full-time job and so grateful for The Oasis for supporting us.

“At NQ Fusion we make natural, chemical free and organic food, home and body products. Our best seller would have to be our meat and vegetable rubs. They are delicious without all the additives and preservatives,” Ms Sharp said.

“We hope to see the Townsville Community get behind our Twilight Craft Markets and support our Veteran families,” Mrs Barsby said.

The Twilight Craft Markets will start on Friday 31 March at 5pm until 8pm, at The Oasis Townsville, 1 Staging Camp Avenue, Oonoonba.
