Macmahon ex ADF Trade Upgrade Program – April 2023 intake  

This is an amazing opportunity to enter a bespoke training program provided by an industry leader. Together with other ex-ADF mechanics, you'll be trained as a group to work on a mine site. This is a significant investment from Macmahon to support your further qualification and is unique to Ironside.

In return, you will establish a continued service commitment in a trade role with Macmahon.

THE PROGRAM:

As a current Heavy Road Transport trade qualified Mechanic, upgrade to be a qualified Heavy Mobile Plant Mechanic. This will be delivered by TAFE QLD in either Brisbane (most likely), Townsville, or Cairns, as a small group of veterans.

You'll get upfront, paid, in-classroom technical theory training in approx. six weeks, then complete "on-the-job" training on a mine site in either WA or QLD, depending upon your preferred location, for around another 18 weeks. Then you'll move into a permanent role in either QLD or WA.

ELIGIBILITY:

To be eligible for a Trade Upgrade you must:

• Be a transitioning or ex ADF Diesel Mechanic.

• Already be a qualified Heavy Road Transport Mechanic, holding either Cert III in Heavy Road Transport or Cert III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology.

• Have a history of being a good performer, who is well regarded by their peers and leaders.
